What is fear? Fear can be all over the place, it can be experienced physically, emotionally, or mentally.

By definition: Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

Fear may evolve over a lifetime. When I was a kid I feared almost everything and thought that everything would quickly result in my untimely death. My heartbeat thumping in my ears at night, was of course, the sound of footsteps of a monster coming for me. Now the thumping in my head is, of course, a brain tumor which will result in my untimely death.

But, what is it I fear daily that I can’t see, that doesn’t result in my immediate demise. Drowning! Not in the literal sense, but the rat race of life trying to catch your breath. Just like Keanu Reeves says in the movie, The Replacements…. He feared quicksand, “You try to fight back, but the harder you fight, the deeper you sink. Until you can’t move… you can’t breathe… because you’re in over your head. Like quicksand.”

What puts us in over our head? Which one thing or combination of juggling puts you in “quicksand”? Bills, taxes, work, life, play, friends, family…

One thing that helped my immediate fear response was to never say no. I immediately say yes before doubts flood my head and figure it out. In this I learn, test, read and succeed! If I gave myself time I thought of all the ways to fail before thinking of how I could learn and succeed.

Now my fear is there is not enough time or enough of me to do all the things I strive to achieve… Touch base again later… I’m still evolving and working through new fears everyday… Reconfiguration of time management up next!

  1. Hey Sara!

I’m a bit older than you, and I’ve been in some of the places you mentioned.

After many years, I came to a certain point, and I realized that to keep going, I had to put my trust in someone much more capable than I.

Creative folks are more attune to life. To me, one of the most important reasons that life needs artists, is because they show us the beauty in things that we can’t see.

We see and feel what so many do not, can not… How are we supposed to handle all of that?

Funny, not funny, how this copy was posted for today.

    Jesus Calling: March 22
Rejoice and be thankful! As you walk with Me through this day, practice trusting and thanking Me all along the way. Trust is the channel through which My Peace flows into you. Thankfulness lifts you up above your circumstances.
I do My greatest works through people with grateful, trusting hearts. Rather than planning and evaluating, practice trusting and thanking Me continually. This is a paradigm shift that will revolutionize your life.
