IN IT FOR THE LONG GAME…

Well played my son!

My almost 15 year old and myself have this 12 year game going. This game has resulted in my niece having an unrealistic, yet actual phobia of cockroaches. We’ve had numerous guest grossed out, scared or extremely confused that it’s now their turn to play!

This little buddy was so thoughtfully placed under the garland… knowing that I would be the one cleaning up the holiday decor alone.

Now, let me say.. For many years I screamed, jumped and freaked out. I am no longer phased. When I encounter the hidden rubber cockroach now, I smile and applaud.

Rhys usually plays a much longer and smoother game. It can be weeks or months before he’s gotten me. The problem I have is that I tell him he got me before I re hide it. He says nothing and stays in stealth mode.

Once I was home alone and turned a ceiling fan on. Nothing alarming right away. I’m walking around my house minding my own business. Meanwhile, the fan speed is building. Fan speed has hit its peek. I’m standing in the middle of the living room and something lands on top of my head…. This time I screamed. The rubber roach had slid from its perfectly placed position at the perfect timed moment that I just happened to be standing exactly where he launched for landing!

My apologies to company that may have been the one to find or just see him laying around in open sight until we find his next hiding place.
